The cursed poet who opened the doors of rock.

James Douglas Morrison, better known as Jim Morrison, was born in Melbourne, Florida, in 1943. The charismatic leader and cursed poet of The Doors, he became the emblem of an entire generation seeking freedom and transgression. His deep, magnetic voice, combined with visionary and often dark lyrics, transformed the band's songs into collective rituals. With "Light My Fire," "Riders on the Storm," and "The End," the Doors opened the doors to inner worlds of desire, rebellion, and poetry.

Morrison wasn't just a singer: he was a total performer, capable of transforming every concert into a theatrical experience, with improvisations and provocative gestures. He loved to call himself a poet even before he was a rock star, and his lyrics, steeped in symbolism and literary references, revealed the restless soul of someone seeking a deeper meaning to existence.

Behind the myth of the "Lizard King," however, lay a tormented man, torn between creative urgency and self-destruction. His excessive lifestyle and thirst for experience soon led him to live life to the limit. In 1971, at just 27 years old, he died in Paris under circumstances that have never been fully clarified, joining the club of legends who died too soon.

Jim Morrison remains a symbol of rebellious poetry, uncompromising freedom, and that romantic tension that transforms life into art and art into myth.

In 1969, during a concert in Miami, Morrison was charged with obscenity for provoking and challenging the audience with extreme gestures. The ensuing trial created enormous difficulties for him, but some in the audience interpreted it as an act of defiance against censorship and prevailing morality. Even today, many critics believe the entire episode was exaggerated and exploited to thwart the rise of a troublesome artist.
